How Free is the Press Summary in Hindi

8. How Free is the Press

‘How Free is the Press’ is an essay written by essayist and dramatist Dorothy L. Sayers. She was one of the women to graduate from Oxford University in 1915. In this lesson, she writes about the freedom of the press and its misuse.

Dorothy L. Sayers says that one cannot imagine free people without a free press. She considers the British press to be completely independent. Because the British press can attack the policy and political character of the ministers. This can expose scams and complaints. can provoke civil discontent and rebellion.

She says that the press is mainly controlled by two people. First advertiser and second press owner. These people put their pressure on the press.

The press can sensationalize and falsify anything for the sake of its popularity. The press misreports facts. He distorts the facts. They present any news in a miraculous way. Which is wrong use of press.

She says that the press is banned during times of war and emergency. If someone accuses the press, he is harassed. The speech given by him is not reported. The writer says it is a threat to Press.

She says that only through the press we can know every truth of the world. Therefore, it is very important to have a free press in any country. Only then can we imagine free people.
