6. The Artist
The Artist is a beautiful story written by Shiga Naoya, a famous Japanese short story writer. In this story, the author reveals the story of Sebei, a talented Japanese boy, how adults often destroy the talents of a young child.
दी आर्टिस्ट एक सुंदर कहानी है, जिसे एक प्रसिद्ध जपानी लघु कथाकार शिगा नाओया के द्वारा लिखा गया है। इस कहानी में लेखक ने एक प्रतिभाशाली जापानी लड़के सेबेई के कहानी को उजागर किया है कि कैसे अक्सर बड़े लोग छोटे बच्चे के प्रतिभाओं को नष्ट कर देते हैं।
Sebei was a 12-year-old primary school boy. He had a habit of collecting gourds. He often went out to buy gourd. He would first make a hole in the top of the gourd and remove its seeds. He used to use tea leaves to get rid of his unpleasant smell. He would then extract and polish the wine from the wine bottles left by his father.
सेबेई एक 12 वर्ष का प्राथमिक विद्यालय के स्कुल छात्र था। उसे लौकी संग्रह करने का आदत था। वह अक्सर लौकी खरीदने के लिए बाहर जाता था। वह सबसे पहले लौकी के ऊपर एक छेद करता था और उसके बीज को निकालता। उसके अप्रिय गंध से छुटकारा पाने के लिए चाय-पत्ता लगाता था। उसके बाद अपने पिता के द्वारा छोड़ी गई शराब की बोतलों से शराब निकालता और पॉलिस करता।
Sebei had become a passion for collecting gourds. He used to collect gourds instead of playing during school holidays.
सेबेई को लौकी इकट्ठा करना पैशन बन गया था। वह स्कुल में छुट्टीयों के समय खेलने के बजाए लौकी इकट्ठा करता था।
One day Sebei was caught red handed by his teacher while polishing the gourd in the class. The teacher snatched the gourd and gave it to an old porter and complained to Sebei’s house.
एक दिन सेबेई को उसके शिक्षक ने वर्ग में लौकी को पॉलिस करते हुए रंगे हाथ पकड़ लिया। शिक्षक ने लौकी को छिन कर एक बुढ़े कुली को दे दिया और सेबेई के घर शिकायत कर दिया।
Sebei’s father got angry and destroyed all the gourds kept by him in the house.
सेबेई के पिता गुस्सा हुए और उसके द्वारा घर में रखे गए सभी लौकी को नष्ट कर दिया।
Two months later, the porter, in need of money, sold the gourd he had snatched from Sebei to a curio-dealer for fifty yen. That price was equal to one year’s salary of a teacher at that time. The curio-dealer sold the same gourd to a wealthy collector of the district for 600 yen.
दो माह बाद, कुली को पैसे की जरूरत पड़ी, वह सेबेई से छीनी हुई लौकी क्यूरियो-डीलर को पचास येन में बेच दिया। वह किमत उस समय एक शिक्षक के एक साल के वेतन के बराबर था। क्यूरियो-डीलर ने वहीं लौकी को जिले के एक धनी कलेक्टर को 600 येन में बेंच दिया।
Sebei is now engaged in making pictures. For this also his father scolds him.
सेबेई अब तस्वीरों को बनाने में लगा रहता है। इसके लिए भी उसके पिता डाँटते हैं।
Thus, this story shows how a young child’s talent was destroyed by adults.
इस प्रकार, यह कहानी दर्शाता है कि कैसे व्यस्कों के द्वारा एक छोटे बच्चे के प्रतिभा को नष्ट कर दिया गया।
